dia de los muertos
October 18, 2023 - Dia de los Muertos or "Day of the Dead" is a Mexican holiday which is celebrated mostly in Mexico and in Hispanic Communities on November 1 and 2. The event is like a family reunion—except dead ancestors are the guests of honor. Day of the Dead is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory.
We learned about the the traditions of Dia de los Muertos and created papel picado to decorate our classroom. We also made calacas by coloring and cutting out skull figures and gluing them on black or orange paper.
It's a lot of fun learning about and making traditional Mexican folk art to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. Viva Mexico!
