PICASSO SPLIT-PERSONALITY
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a famous Spanish painter and sculptor. He is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles in his artistic career. He was an artist from a very young age; his mother said his first word was “pencil.” He started art lessons in figure drawing and oil painting at age 7 from his father a painter (who specialized in life-like paintings of birds). At the age of 13 he was admitted into advanced art classes at the art college in Barcelona. By the age of 16, he quit art school and decided to pursue his own art career by studying famous artists in the art museum in Madrid. When he was 19, he moved to Paris France; 5 years later he was a favorite artist collected by art collectors.
December 1, 2023- Inspired by Picasso's technique, our young artists drew faces and added features from multiple viewpoints that show different emotions (for example, Happy and Sad). They then used a variety of oil pastel colors and different blending styles with overlapping colors to create gradations in the artwork. We will finish our artwork December 4. |
